I am still getting labs done every month and every month there is something else I have to adjust. It is amazing how much the kidneys do. When they are not working correctly it throws off your blood chemistries. My big issues currently are my parathyroid hormone and phosphorus levels; both are high. My hemoglobin is still an issue. Now I take a medicine that binds phosphorus to flush it out. Phosphorus is in just about everything! All dairy products are high in phosphorus! And chocolate! I could go on and on about this pleasant issue. I barely missed needing to get an Aranesp injection to help bring up the hemoglobin. Get this; they cost $1000 an injection! It requires insurance authorization as well. Geesh! So, every month it is a new adventure. At least my function is stable. Dr. Bryant is wonderful! My nurses in Lima are awesome! Both are so willing to answer my questions!
I love this time of year! I love the lights, the music, and the snow! I have so many precious memories of Christmas growing up. My memories go back to when I was a toddler. I remember playing with cousins, enjoying my dad's brothers and sisters when they would come over for dad's annual Christmas Eve poker game. I loved to lay right next to the Christmas tree and look up at the lights and day dream. My Meme and Pawpaw, Wally and Libby Bills, is where I usually stayed. Mom and dad lived on the other side the duplex home. When I was about 8 or so Meme started putting little Christmas villages under the tree. I loved to help her with that. When she got older I place those for her as it was more difficult for her to get down on the floor. She cIlosely supervised what went where. One year my pawpaw made a small carnival ride set that included a carousel, swings, and a Ferris wheel. He made them out of scrapped wood, motors, and other miscellaneous scraps he found. Meme loved it! I don't know what happened to it.
I love colored Christmas lights! I suppose I should say Christmas lights in general, white ones are ok. To this day I one of my earliest memories is looking out of the window and gazing at the tree of lights on top of Seagram's tower. I wish there were more lights around town, especially in downtown Lawrenceburg. There are so many areas in which there would be a great light display. I think the library courtyard would be a great place, the children would love it! I enjoyed being out with my grand babies last night looking for light displays. It was so much fun listening to their reactions.
I love Christmas music! I could listen to it all year around! I have certain songs that are very precious to me. They are favorites of my past on loved ones that help me relive Christmas of my childhood and adolescence. They are their favorite Christmas songs. Dad's--Feliz Navidad; mom's --It Came Upon the Midnight Clear; --Meme's--O Little Town of Bethlehem; grandma Grubbs--Silver Bells; Pawpaw--White Christmas; Aunt Kathy--O Come All Ye Faithful. Meme and Aunt Kathy used to sing, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus to me; so that one is special too! Of course I have my own personal favorites. I could be here all night listing those! LOL!
Kenneth Cope 'O Holy Night'
Rudolph, the Red-nosed Reindeer is still my favorite Christmas cartoon! I have many favorite Christmas movies, like The Bishop's Wife with Loretta Young and Cary Grant. But I usually watch most of them when I have an opportunity. I love sharing them with my grand-babies! They are almost 4 and 3 now and are so excited about Christmas this year. Of course their favorite Christmas song is currently Chipmunk Christmas Song. I tolerate it for them! It is so cute to hear them sing it! So, it is worth it!
I love Nativities! I have several. One of my favorites is enclosed in a snow globe I also love snow globes!. My grand-babies loved to play with one of them I had out last year. It is was so sweet. I don't have any issue with Santa, but for me Christmas is about the Christ. I try to teach my little ones about the birth of Christ as well as the spirit of Santa.
I am at that point in my life where most of my loved ones have crossed over and my grand-babies are getting old enough for me to pass along some of these memories. The old and the new memories are so dear to me. And every time I hear one of those songs I pause and think of them and relive one of those memories and hold them close.
I pray that everyone has a blessed Christmas and that you remember the past and embrace the new.
